Jacobs Consultancy's Petroleum, Chemicals & Energy Practice offers environmental services provided by consultants specializing in key environmental areas. We emphasize a process engineering and business orientation for our environmental services. Business planning is a critical aspect of all environmental treatment, control, and conservation projects whether our client requires a new site for a grass roots facility, a reduction in emissions from an existing processing unit for regulatory compliance, or an evaluation of future environmental standards and their impact on operating and investment budgets. The focus of our consulting activities is at the regulatory, process, and business level of environmental issues.

Through our project experience, we have developed expertise in a broad range of environmental technologies. We monitor developments concerning atmospheric, liquid, and solid waste technologies and conduct technical studies comparing their effectiveness in a variety of applications. Knowledge of the technological alternatives to meet future environmental standards is essential to forecasting the business impacts and implications of new environmental regulations.

We have been involved in the preparation of environmental impact reports for our clients since the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 first required their use. The most recent assessments involve projects in developing countries that require World Bank financing and, therefore, are in accordance with the World Bank, IFC, and local requirements.
